Biographical Notes:
Eleanor Barr began practicing law 16 years ago as a litigator of complex civil cases. In 1999, she established herself as a full-time mediator and has since built a thriving mediation practice specializing in legally and emotionally complex cases. She successfully mediates for many of California's top law firms.
Eleanor's success at settling cases attests to her skill at distilling legal issues, her extensive litigation experience, and her ability to defuse the emotional issues that often underlie conflict. Over the years, Eleanor has developed a highly effective mediation style that emphasizes communication, legal clarity and a tenacious commitment to reaching resolution.
Eleanor is a fellow of the International Academy of Mediators and co-chairs the ADR Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California. She is a mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court Mediation Program and for the California Court of Appeal.
Eleanor is active in educating lawyers and mediators about mediation. As a former director of the Southern California Mediation Association, she has organized and lectured at Southern California Mediation Association’s Annual Conference at Pepperdine University and has helped improve the Los Angeles Superior Court Mediation Program by writing mediation guidelines and checklists for mediators and judges.
