Biographical Notes:
Steven Cohen is an Administrative Law Judge with the Appeals Board of the CUIAB. He is also a Construction defect and Real Property specialist who holds holds two contractor's licenses, a Real Estate Broker's license and an MBA with a major in Finance and Economics.
With over two decades of alternative dispute resolution experience, Judge Cohen has been very successful in handling construction defect, contract, real estate and property management issues. In addition to serving as Past President and CEO of a Santa Monica-based property management and development company, Judge Cohen has taught Arbitration, Mediation and Negotiation on the graduate, undergraduate and Corporate level.
Cohen is also certified as a Property Mold Specialist in mold inspection and remediation. He holds the classification of "Master Arbitrator" with the Contractor's State License Board and is approved by the Deputy Registrar for the CSLB. He has inspected over 1,000 properties for due diligence, construction defects and seismic problems. He is fully versed at reading and understanding blueprints, soil reports and building specifications.
In addition to Construction Defect and Real Estate matters, Cohen also mediates insurance related disputes through the State Depatement of Insurance. He is an approved mediator on the Construction and Commercial panels for the AAA as well as various Labor and Employment law panels.
